Radar Lyric vs Lyric Graphite Comparison

October 29, 2019

Let's take a look at the all new 2020 Lyric water skis from Radar. For 2020, the Radar lyric water skis have some important updates. Radar is pushing the envelope for women's water skis. The hard-charging lyric graphite was a quick sell-out last year. Make sure to grab your new ski before they're gone.

Lyric Water Ski Shape

The Radar Lyric water ski continues to be one of our top performing ladies water skis. It is a great intermediate ski for anyone skiing the 28-34 mph speed range. The lyric water ski has always been modeled after Radar's high end vapor line. Just like the Vapor, the 2020 Lyric line has received a new shape which includes a new rocker profile and a longer running concave to give the ski more support and consistency. The lyric ski adds 0.2" of width throughout the body to increase stability without killing performance.

One of the first things you’ll notice is Radar’s CorFlex in the tip of the ski. These contours along the tip of the ski introduce a specific flex pattern. You’re putting the most pressure on you’re ski as you just finish a turn. The CorFlex brings in just an extra bit of flex, specifically along the tip to make your turning and acceleration more natural and fluid.

If you currently own a Radar Lyric ski, you’ll noticed the abrupt bevel change is gone from the bottom of the ski. Radar naturally contoured the bevel while still giving you maximum flat spot under your feet. The flat spot gives you amazing balance, while the full round bevel behind gives you outstanding edging and control. Moving in front of your feet, you’ll notice the edge bevels flatten out to give you a little push-back if you start to get yourself out of position

Lyric v Lyric Graphite

For 2020, Radar has introduced the Radar Lyric Graphite. This is a new construction of the Lyric, built with additional carbon for extra performance. Both the Lyric and Lyric Graphite water skis are built with 100% Carbon laminates for a light responsive ski. They standard lyric is built with a wood stringer down the center, allowing the ski to be softer around the buoys and a little more forgiving across the wakes. The Lyric Graphite removes the wooden stringer and adds in a new layer of uni-directional carbon fiber. This specific carbon fiber weave creates an extremely predictable flex pattern, so you’re ski is consistent turn after turn.
